Temporary Sales / Technical Field Representative

About the Role

We are seeking a temporary Sales / Technical Field Representative to join our team for an agricultural field program. In this role, you will work within a designated region around the Edmonton area, ensuring support is available to growers. You will play a key role in educating new growers on the lupin best management practices and building positive relationships with dairy farmers to use lupin in their dairy rations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical
    • Provide technical guidance and product recommendations based on grower needs
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and offer solutions
    • Educate growers on best practices
    • Gather grower feedback and field data to help improve product performance
    • Assess market trends and customer pain points to provide feedback to R&D teams
    • Call on large dairy farmers and feed companies to introduce them to the benefits of lupin
    • Work with sales, marketing, and product development teams to align on product messaging and positioning
  • Relationship Management
    • Develop a strong and cooperative working relationship with all stakeholders
    • Engage with growers and dairy farmers professionally and respectfully during all interactions
    • Build trust and be responsive to grower requests
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Experience in agronomy, crop production, or a related field (relevant degree, designation, or industry experience is an asset but not required)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide technical support to growers and dairy farmers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and partners
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to travel within 150 km radius of home base
  • A valid driver’s license
Position Details
  • Location: Edmonton area. This role requires travel throughout the region, covering Red Deer to approximately one hour north or east of Edmonton.
  • Contract Duration: February 1, 2025 to November 30, 2025
  • Hour Requirements: part-time hours, 500 hours in the first year and potential to increase. Expecting a multi-year project.
  • Compensation: Competitive compensation based on skills and experience
